Throughout, “Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds” by Shakespeare and “To My Dear and Loving Husband” by Anne Bradstreet, the underlying theme is love. The song that captures both poems is Whitney’s Houston “Saving All My Love To You”.Whitney Houston and the authors clearly want to illustrate to their listeners/readers that love is the only thing to matter because it’s a commitment to each other no matter what arouses.

Love is an occurrence that happens naturally. Lines from Whitney Houston's masterpiece ("Saving All My Love To You" such as, "So I'm saving all my love for you"...."Gonna get that old feeling when you walk through that door".... "We'll be making love the whole night through". All these examples show the power of what love has to a person's soul, emotions,  and appearance. Houston's lines can resemble both poems very similarly. For instance, "Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks"... or, "It is the star to every wand'ring bark". This quotes by "Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds" shows the temptation that love will always be there to stay in any situation. Additionally, in "To My Dear and Loving Husband" by Anne Bradstreet lines like, "My love is such that rivers cannot quench"...."Thy love is such I can no way repay".... "That when we live no more, we may live ever". Clearly, these lines also illustrate to us how crucial love is to our society.

Both poems can be defined into many different words but, the most important ones that defines both poems would be compassionate, understanding, togetherness, and commitment. In conclusion, we realize as readers that both poems develop their own unique theme but, they eventually circle back to love an the commitment you need for it as discussed also in Whitney Houston's song as well.
